Vergil Ortiz, Jr. (15-0, 15 KO's) from Grand Prairie, Texas, a suburb of Dallas, Texas will take to the ring as the main event at Fantasy Springs Resort Casino in Indio California Friday July 24, 2020 against veteran Samuel Vargas ( 31-5-2, 14 KO's)
Having fought four times last year and winning all of them by KO, Ortiz was given the title of 2019 Prospect of The Year. These knockouts don't include the other eleven that he has, which gives him a perfect fifteen in a row.
Because of the Covid-19 epidemic, he was sidelined for seven months, but according to him, “I don’t want any easy fights. I go through a lot in training camp and put my body through a lot of stress. We want to make it work against opposition that will get me to a world title.”
This is GoldenBoy Promotions first fight of the year and Ortiz will showcase his boxing skills and knockout power on his journey into the welterweight division.
Also on the card is undefeated Hector Valdez (12-0, 8 KO's) from Dallas, Texas, who plans to also continue his winning streak against Josue Morales (11-11-4, 1 KO) from Houston, Texas.
The GoldenBoy card also includes three more undercard fights, including Seniesa Estrada (18-0, 7 KO's) against Miranda Adkins (5-0, 5KO's).
