As the co-main event of the first boxing show by The Boxing Showcase, cruiserweight Rafael "Listo" Gaitan (6-0-1, 4 KO's) from Grand Prairie, Texas, finally was able to step into the boxing ring after several cancellations of other fights for one reason or another.
His opponent was JorgeMartinez (4-7) from Mexico, who took the challenge against the undefeated Gaitan in what was to be a scheduled six round fight.
But that was not meant to be, because in the first minute of the first round, Gaitan landed a short right hand uppercut and Martinez went down. After taking the count, the fight continued and Martinez made it to the end of the round just as Gaitan landed a punch that buckled his knees as he fell against the ropes.
In the second round, Gaitan began to land numerous uncontested punches that dropped Martinez as referee Neal Young stepped in and stopped the fight.
The fans in attendance were delighted to see the local favorite get the win, including all his supporters from Grand Prairie. This was Gaitan's first fight in 2021 and he is expected to have another fight coming up soon.
