Hector Valdez (14-0, 8 KOs) of Dallas, Texas outdueled the slick and tough Alberto Torres (11-4-3, 4 KOs) of Sacramento, California on the undercard of the Vergil Ortiz / Maurice "Mighty Mo" Hooker main event in Arlington, Texas.
In a back and forth combination of hard right hands, uppercuts and body punches by Valdez and the return of combinations from Torres, the crowd got their moneys worth from these two talented bantamweights, but in the end, Valdez won by unanimous decision.
Trained by Robert Garcia, the three-time RING Magazine Trainer of the Year, who also trains Vergil Ortiz, Valdez continued his undefeated record and is becoming another top Dallas fighter on his way to stardom.
Along with other world champion fighters from Dallas, including Errol Spence and former junior welterweight Maurice "Mighty Mo" Hooker, Valdez is on the path to becoming another world champion for Dallas, Texas, just as Vergil Ortiz, Jr., will be very soon.
