Media and fight fans of Grand Prairie were on hand to see the hometown hero Vergil Ortiz, Jr. (13-0, 13 KO's) hit the mitts in preparation of his first main event show against veteran Antonio Orozco (28-1, 17 KO's).
He is done with training camp and is ready to begin his next step from blue-chip prospect to world contender in the waters of the welterweight division of boxing.
His opponent has won against the likes of former world champion Humberto Soto and he went the distance against Jose Ramirez last year and is looking to spoil the show.
Ortiz has other plans against his opponent though, with his methodical and precise punches, similar to that of fellow welterweight champion, the Lone Star "Cobra" Donald Curry.
Th fight takes place this Saturday, August 10, 2019 at The Theatre at Grand Prairie, in Grand Prairie, Texas.
