Kovalev Topples Shabranskyy In Two

Sergey “Krusher” Kovalev (31-2-1, 27 KO's) wasted no time in dominating Vyacheslav Shabranskyy (19-2, 1KO) at Madison Square Garden by stopping him in the second round with a Krushing right hand to win the WBO light heavyweight title.

This was one of the belts that he had lost in a controversial decision in his first fight with now retired Andre “S.O.G.” Ward (30-0, 15 KO's). The second round TKO added another knockout to the Krusher's KO record, the way he dominated the division before losing his titles.

Shabranskyy was no match to Kovalev, the former WBO, WBA and IBF Light Heavyweight World Champion. Kovalev dropped Shabranskyy two times in the first round and toppled him in the last minute of the second round with a huge right hand for the third and final knockdown to end the fight.

Sergey Kovalev is scheduled to make the first defense of his WBO light heavyweight title once again at the the Mecca of Boxing at Madison Square Garden on March 3rd. Hopefully he will meet the WBA light heavyweight champion Dmitry Bivol down the road, which will definitely be a great fight for boxing.
