Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker Mauls Jackson At The Omni In Dallas, Texas

In the first defense of his WBO/NABO Junior Welterweight title in his hometown of Dallas, Texas, Maurice “Mighty Mo” Hooker (23-0-3, 16 K0's) took the fight to the tough Courtney “Lion Heart” Jackson (17-1, 10 KO's) from the beginning of the fight to the very end.

Using his jab to set up his right hand along with relentless left hooks to the head of Jackson, it didn't take long before a mouse was visible over the right eye of his opponent.

Jackson, who came into the fight undefeated, left the fight with his first loss, and many ringside thought it should have been stopped much earlier.

By the seventh round, Hooker was walking his opponent down in the ring, and the swelling on Jackson's eye was starting close, not to mention all the body punches he was taking as well.

In his second fight in 2017, Hooker was anxious to get in the ring before the fight and it was obvious the way he worked in the ring. Each punch thrown was calculated and meant to do damage.

Jackson did come to fight, but Hooker was the busier fighter with his jab, left hooks, and the work to the body. In the last round, Jackson went for the fences in a last attempt to win the fight, as he was clearly behind on the cards. He did land one good punch in the last round, but it was to no avail, and "Mighty Mo" went on to win by unanimous decision with referee Laurence Cole as the third man in the ring.
